Below are the opportunities we offer that require volunteers:
Provincial Leadership Camp (PLC)-
PLC is 4-H Ontario's flagship program that has been running for over 60 years. This Camp is for Youth aged 15-21 and runs for 6 days and 5 nights over the March break. At this camp youth have the chance to develop their leadership skills through fun challenges involving teamwork, exploration and self-reflection. As a facilitator you would be expected to attend a training weekend in February and then help facilitate leadership activities at camp in March. This Camp runs every other year.
Future Leaders in Action (FLIA)
On the opposite years of PLC, FLIA runs over March break for 5 days and 4 nights. This experience is for youth aged 15-21 where they learn advanced leadership skills through challenging and fun activities. As a facilitator you would attend a training weekend in February and help facilitate leadership activities at camp in March.
Youth Adventure Camp (YAC)
This opportunity takes place in late August for 4 days and 3 nights each year. This Camp is for youth ages 12-15. This is a fun week filled with traditional camp activities and the chance to learn about teamwork and leadership. As a facilitator you will attend a training night and help facilitate camp activities during the week in August.
Discovery Days
We run a 1-day 4-H event in each region on Saturdays in June and July. This event is for youth aged 6-12 and aims to get younger participants involved in 4-H. As a volunteer we would ask that you help run a fun activity station that could be anything from arts and crafts, making a delicious snack and leading team building games.
Impact Conference:
The Imact Conference is a new career focused conference being offered this year. The focus of the Impact Conference is to teach youth to make impacts in their community and find a career that will fuel their passions. It is a two day conference being held October 13-15, 2023 and there are many opportunties to help including chaperoning, and facilitating a session.
Bus chaperones:
If you are unable to facilitate at our camps and conferences, you can still help out! For two of our opportunities, we offer bussing. In order to offer these buses, we need 2 screened and trained volunteers to ride on the bus with youth to and from camp.
For PLC and FLIA, we have on bus that runs from a central location, usually in the Guelph area.
For Youth Adventure Camp we run two charter busses, one from the east and one from the west.
